Processing time of your EEA family permit to the UK.
Usually, processing of an application for an EEA Family permit takes up to 15 working days from the date of submission of all documents to the British visa application centre. It can take longer in the summer season, this period may increase to 1-2 months.

Eligibility for the English EEA Family permit.
An EU (European Union) citizen, a close member of your family, must:
- Either already be in the UK
- Or travel with you to the UK within 6 months from the date of your application.
If an EU (European Union) citizen, a close member of your family, has been in the UK for more than 3 months, then you need to prove that he:
- Either is a qualified staff (working, looking for work, having a sole business activity, or being a student),
- Or have a permanent right to stay in the UK.
In order to apply for the EEA Family permit, you need to be related to an EU (European Union) citizen:
- As a spouse
- As a child or grandson / granddaughter under 21 years old (or over 21 years old, if you can prove that you are still dependent on an EU citizen).
- Parent or grandmother / grandfather (if you can prove that you are dependent on an EU citizen).
- Brother, sister, uncle, aunt, cousins, nephews and nieces (in case you prove that you need permanent assistance from an EU citizen for health reason).
Useful information when applying for an EEA Family permit to the UK.
- If you plan on filing an EEA Family permit as a civil spouse of an EU citizen, you will need to prove that you have been living together for several years already. Unfortunately, even with this requirement, this does not protect you from possible refusal.
- Your passport must have at least 1 sheet, empty on both sides, otherwise you might face refusal.
- Section of the photo: now the provision of a separate photo for a visa is not mandatory (the rule does not apply to children under 5 years old).

Basic documents:
- Passport valid for the trip.
- Evidence of your relationship with an EU citizen.
- Copy of that EU citizen passport.
- Evidence that you are dependent on an EU citizen (if necessary).

If your goal is to obtain an EEA Family permit in order to move to the UK with a close family member (an European citizen), then during the period of this EEA Family permit you need to apply for an EEA2 (residence card) from within the UK. Submission of documents and the validity of EEA2 (residence card), and delivery of such kind of visa, will be possible only until the end of 2020. After this date, future applicants will have to apply for a pre-settled status.
