What to do if you stay in the UK during the Covid-19

Visas.Consulting

In case you stay in the UK during the Covid-19, and your visa expires within the period from January 24, 2020 to July 31, 2020, you can request an extension for your visa until July 31, 2020. This rule was introduced due to travel restrictions and self-isolation.

You must request a visa extension by clicking on this link: https://gov.smartwebportal.co.uk/homeoffice/public/ho_form.html. You will need to fill out a form and send it electronically. If you have already extended your visa until May 31, 2020 (initially the first extension was until May 31), your visa will be automatically renewed until July 31 and you do not need to do anything.

Important information for those who are in the UK on visitor visas and who planned to apply for long-term visas from their countries in the future. If your visitor visa expires from June 24, 2020 to July 31, 2020, then you have the right to apply for a long-term visa (such as student, work, family, etc.) from the UK.

If you are in the UK and have already applied for a Tier4 student visa and are awaiting a decision, then you can start your course if:

  • Your sponsor has a Tier 4 license,

  • You submitted your documents before your previous visa expired,
  • The level of your course corresponds to the one declared in CAS,
  • You have a valid ATAS certificate (Academic Technology Approval Scheme) (if necessary).

If your visa has been refused, then you will need to immediately stop your course.

If you are in the UK and have already applied for a Tier2 and Tier5 work visa and are awaiting a decision, then you can start working if:

  • You have been given CoS (Certificate of Sponsorship),
  • You submitted your documents before your previous visa expired,
  • The job corresponds to the declared in CoS.

If your visa was refused, then you will need to immediately stop working.
